Deciphering The Face: A Visual Body Language Guide By Joe Navarro

"People often say, there was something about the face that told me something was wrong. I teach that the face should be broken down into areas - as in the photograph below - and that you should let each area "speak" to you (this is one example of many). It's often the case that three or more areas of the face will be reinforcing what a person is thinking or feeling; and this provides greater validity than when just one area of the face is communicating to you.

You may also see one part of the face communicating one message while another communicates something else. By dividing the face up in this way - and this is just one way of doing it - it will help you to focus on specific behaviors rather than generalities.
